To the veterans
of the Great Patriotic War,
citizens of Kyiv
Dear citizens of Kyiv!
More than seventy years ago on a fine November day after severe and heavy fighting, the capital of Ukraine was liberated from fascist invaders. The city was ruined and devastated; there was no electricity; and waste water disposal system as well as public water supply did not function.
Time went by and ancient Kyiv was renewed. Despite of the losses, 500 days after the liberation, weak women, children and disabled men have totally improved municipal economy. After the end of war, Kyiv was restored and enlarged. It has prospered and became one of the most beautiful European capitals.
Today Ukraine lives through a complicated period. Our eastern regions are war-struck. However, just as seventy years ago we will win! We will win and restore our country because the truth, God and Ukraine are with us!
