The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that for students, “combination of theory with practice is the guarantee of success”. He said this during the meeting of the people’s deputies of Ukraine with the students of Kyiv higher educational establishments that undertake internship in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within the program of the NGO “Youth Alternative” – “Students for the Parliament”.
I.Kalyetnik named the experience of this public organization that operates since 1998 successful and said that it helps students of different specialties “see the work of the Parliament from inside and feel the pulse of the law-making process”. “You can learn a lot during a four-month period of internship and experience the parliamentary life,” he said and added that each person is formed from the students’ period of life.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada believes that “knowledge is composed of everyday routine work named studying, studying and studying”. “You should cultivate your abilities day and night, gain theory and experience, for combination of theory and practice is the guarantee of success,” he stressed.
I.Kalyetnik emphasized that current students shall become state officials in the future and “steadfast adherence to the laws” shall be most important to them. According to him, a state official “should proudly bear the name of the state in which he works and, on behalf of the state, ensure fulfillment of the tasks he is entrusted to” “You should take the moves that will make you and the state that gave you the possibility to work be proud of,” he said.
The First Deputy Chairman informed students about the work of the Parliament of the seventh convocation, noting that effective work has started, for “certain rub along between the political forces represented in the Parliament has taken place”. He informed that 1200 bills are under consideration in the legislative body and that 150 of them are governmental, others are the initiatives of the people’s deputies.
The First Deputy Chairman believes that the committees of the Verkhovna Rada, where the students undertake their internship are “the unique platform” for discussions with specialists, experts, scientists and mass media representatives. Thereat, he stressed that this process must be maximally open and public with steadfast adherence to the rules of procedure.
The First Deputy Chairman wished students success, well and happiness, and the ability to show their worth and recollect internship as a usefully spent time. “Your studying at school, at the university and the respective internship is the foundation that will help you find yourselves,” stressed I.Kalyetnik.
The First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Budget O.Kaletnyk, Chairman of the Committee on Construction, Urban Development, Housing and Communal Services and Regional Policy S.Kilinkarov, people’s deputies of Ukraine – representatives of the Communist faction of Ukraine S.Hordiyenko, O.Zubchevskyi and O.Prysyazhnyuk participated in the event.
