Inter-parliamentary contacts between Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan require significant activation.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak said this during the meeting with the the Speaker of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin in Saint Petersburg on Thursday.
Volodymyr Rybak was satisfied with the high level of relations between Ukraine and Kazakhstan which, according to him, are being developed in the spirit of trust, friendship and mutual respect.
The Speaker of the Majilis greeted Volodymyr Rybak with his election to the post of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and invited him to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at a time convenient for him. He noted also that “sincere relations between our states” are of special importance to his country.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada expressed confidence that the bilateral inter-parliamentary dialogue shall be renewed and shall be enough intensive both at the level of parliament leaders and deputy friendship groups. In this context, he expressed hope that Nurlan Nigmatulin will pay an official visit to Ukraine in the nearest time.
“We hope for significant activation of relations between our parliaments after the composition of a deputy group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan is formed. As of today, 70 people’s deputies have applied for membership in this group,” said Volodymyr Rybak.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that Ukraine attaches great attention to development of trade-economic relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan. Volodymyr Rybak noted that the Ukrainian- Kazakh turnover has reached a pre-crises level. He expressed conviction that it is necessary to make efforts to secure further increase of mutual trade figures.
The Parties have also discussed the issue of cooperation between Ukraine and the Customs Union. “We study the possibilities of the Customs Union,” said Volodymyr Rybak, noting that there different ideas and different attitude to this issue inside the country.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament positively appreciated further deepening of bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
Members of the official delegation, headed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, participated in the flower laying ceremony to the Taras Shevchenko monument today.
