The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the bill on amendments to the Law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” (re securing informational balance by the National Television Company of Ukraine and the National Radio Company of Ukraine)

According to one of the authors of the bill Mykola Tomenko, the draft (Reg. No. 2573) suggests to provide community councils of national television and radio companies of Ukraine (NTCU and NRCU) with real authority to secure public participation in formation of informational content of programs.

Mykola Tomenko stressed also that the bill presupposes implementation of public control over compliance of legislation by journalists in the sphere of television and radio broadcasting and mechanism of securing the presence in broadcasting of the First National representatives of all political powers (45 minutes a day for each faction in prime-time).
