The Committee Chair Vyacheslav Kyrylenko addressed people’s deputies with a request to “prudently use the right of legislative initiative in order not to violate inter-confessional harmony in Ukraine and not to provoke civil opposition” during preparation to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus' (July 28, 2013).
People’s deputies stressed the importance of comprehensive and proper preparation of celebration of 200 birth anniversary of Taras Shevchenko (March 9, 2014). V.Kyrylenko noted that it is important “to do everything possible not to turn celebration of Taras Shevchenko jubilee to formality, since his figure is one of the most important components of Ukrainian self identity”. In particular, the importance of publishing of full collection of works by Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko in 12 volumes was stressed.
The Committee Chair emphasized that public should be involved in preparation of events to commemorate Kobzar.
