The document was signed by the co-heads of the union Iryna Hereshchenko and Olena Kondratiuk (“Equal Possibilities”) and by Svitlana Tolstoukhova, President of implementing NGO “League of Social Workers of Ukraine”. The Memorandum comes into force on the day of signing and is valid up to November 27, 2015.
The All-Ukrainian public organization “League of Social Workers of Ukraine” is the winner of the EU Representation contest in Ukraine. It got a grant for implementation of the project "Back to work: reintegration of parents to professional life after the parental leave'' for 2013-2015.
People’s deputies believe that the problem of returning to workplace after parental leave is acute for many women, for a woman with a child is quite often viewed as an undesirable employee. People’s deputies deem it necessary to draw public attention to the issue and enhance settlement of the problem at a state level.
The aim of the project "Back to work: reintegration of parents to professional life after the parental leave'' is to provide equal possibilities for parents after parental leave, elaborate innovational model of support to such parents and implement this model on enterprises of all forms of ownership. It is planned to carry out a survey, the results of which shall be used while elaboration of recommendations for employers. It is also planned to develop draft legislative bills to secure equal possibilities for parents returning from parental leave.
Several visiting sessions in Ternopil, Cherkasy, Sumy, Vinnytsya, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk and Zhytomyr regions will be held within the framework of the project "Back to work: reintegration of parents to professional life after the parental leave''.
Co-chairmen of the inter-faction deputy union “Equal Possibilities” I.Herashchenko and O.Kondratiuk noted that this is the first exemplar of concrete cooperation between the union and public organization. The inter-faction deputy union is set for closest possible dialogue with NGOs to pool efforts of Ukrainian public sector and the law-makers in order to settle gender issues in Ukraine.
