More 25 experts and scientists spoke during the events. In general, over 250 participants participated in the hearings, among them – people’s deputies, representatives of higher education institutions, the National Academy of Science, branch national academies, scientific institutions, public research organizations, scientists.
In her speech, the Chairperson of the Committee Liliya Hrynevych stressed that in the next five years Ukraine can irreversibly lose the status of scientific country. She is convinced that Ukraine has the status of scientific country today, but without a revision of approach to financing the science, this status will be lost in the next 5-10 years.
Participants of the hearings discussed the issue of increasing role of science in the development of country’s economy.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian State Agency for Science, Innovation and Informatization Volodymyr Semynozhenko spoke on conclusions of work of the agency, perspectives of innovation activity approaches in Ukraine and reminded that the government will prepare the pilot project of support to Ukrainian scientists.
The Vise-president of the Academy of Science Anatoliy Zahorodniy reported on the state of affairs in the Academy.
Special accent was made on the issues of preserving scientific objects that are part of national heritage.
Academician of the Higher School Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Maksym Striha, who took part at the preparation of the committee hearings, stressed that the misunderstanding of ideological and practical role of science in development of the society became a chronic disease of the Ukrainian politicians.
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee Mykola Soroka stressed on the necessity of revision of state financing of development of science and scientific and technical activity.
The Chairperson of the Committee was convinced that the issue of state financing is not the single problem. She stressed on the necessity of full involvement of the national capital to financing the science.
Summing up, Liliya Hrynevych stressed that all the propositions and remarks will allow the Committee to prepare recommendations to the Parliament.
