The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the Head of the EU Mission to Ukraine Ian Tombinsky on Tuesday.
At the request of Ian Tombinsky, Volodymyr Rybak informed on the current situation in the Parliament, particularly on the circumstances of session hall blocking.
Ian Tombinsky noted that the legislative work of the Verkhovna Rada is closely monitored in the EU, considering the need of implementation of the EU-Ukraine Action Plan. Thereat, he expressed his concern about the situation when people's deputies are deprived of their authorities.
“The EU-Ukraine Action Plan depends on coordinated work in the Verkhovna Rada,” Ian Tombinsky said. Thereat, he stressed on the importance of mutual responsibility of all parliamentary parties for realization of the European choice of Ukraine.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that he acted according to legislation when referring materials regarding deprivation of authorities of the people's deputies A.Verevskyi and S.Vlasenko to the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine.
“I wish and I do all my best to change the situation in the Parliament for better. I hope to unblock it without using heavy-handed methods,” he said.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada predicted that the Parliament will renew its work in the nearest future, and primarily consider the bills on Euro-integrational aspirations of Ukraine. Volodymyr Rybak expressed his confidence that they will be supported by representatives of the majority and the opposition. "The Statement on the Euro-integrational choice of Ukraine united all political forces, and we must do everything to enable signing of the Association Agreement in November this year," he said.
