In the second half of February, within the Internship Program in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Central Executive Bodies for 2012-2013 the meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi, Ukrainian diplomat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007-2009) Volodymyr Ohryzko and first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk was held.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi noted that his legislative work is focused, in particular, on creation of legal providing of percentage of national minorities’ representatives in authority structures on the local and state levels. According to him, legislation in the field of consumer protection requires strengthening as well.
Ruslan Koshulynskyi told about the draft laws that are already submitted for the consideration in the Parliament. Among them he noted the bills on amendments to the Budget Code of Ukraine (Reg. No. 2283) and amendments to the Law “On state regulation of production and turnover of alcohol ethyl, cognac and fruit, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products” (Reg. No. 1245).
The main topic of Volodymyr Ohryzko’s speech (Ukrainian diplomat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007-2009) was the issue of youth problems in Ukraine. He expressed his concern about the number of people willing to move abroad for studying with a possibility of further employment is increasing. According to Volodymyr Ohryzko, provision of young generation with decent conditions for study and work in Ukraine has to become one of the priorities of the state. Volodymyr Ohryzko drew also attention to the fact that "the majority of young people now are passive and not involved in the social life, only a small part of them response to the social processes and are trying to change and somehow affect them."
Addressing the interns during the meeting, the First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk stated: “To become a qualified specialist one should have, first of all, talent given from birth. Secondly, one needs knowledge, education for developing the talent. And the last – political will that would enable to implement your skills and ideas on practice.” According to him, young political elite “should work out determined internal and external political course and follow it.”
