The Parties discussed perspectives of European Integration of Ukraine and the results of the EU-Ukraine Summit that took place in Brussels on February 22.
In this regard, Michael Baer highly appreciated the efforts of the Committee regarding preparation and adoption by the Parliament the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on support of Ukraine's European integration, and stressed that Hungary supports the aspirations of our country in this direction.
"We were and we will be the supporters of Ukraine’s reapproachment with the EU. Hopefully, your country will timely meet the criteria set out in the conclusions of the EU Council of 10 December 2012 concerning the issues of politically-motivated persecution of the opposition and selective justice, reforming of the electoral law, and reform of judicial and law enforcement systems in Ukraine, and we will be able to sign the Association Agreement by the end of this year," Ambassador of Hungary said.
Hryhoriy Nemyrya expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the support and informed him about the initiative of the opposition to create the inter-faction deputy union "Ukraine - EU".
Despite this, the Parties discussed the issue of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary. In this regard, Michal Baer opined on the need to strengthen the parliamentary dimension of bilateral cooperation.
