The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ihor Kalyetnik called for representatives of the European Business Association to prepare specific business suggestions to amend legislation of Ukraine in the part of business activities and investment development and to introduce the practice of working meetings to prepare such legislative suggestions.
This was discussed in the Parliament during the meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ihor Kalyetnik with the representatives from more then 50 companies of the European Business Association.
“It would be wrong to say that the Verkhovna Rada does not see the problems today. Treating legislator exclusively from the critical point of view might be interesting, but it does not solve specific problems. I suggest settle them jointly. Today the Parliament is ready to hear suggestions from the business,” stressed I.Kalyetnik.
He believes that business should actively participate in the law-making activity at the stage of bills’ consideration in the specialized Verkhovna Rada Committees, which, in their turn, should be the place for broad discussion of theses draft documents.
“At the first stage I would suggest holding broad round table discussion in the Verkhovna Rada in March, involving people’s deputies, representatives of the European Business Association, American Chamber of Commerce, Taxpayers Association, U.S.-Ukraine Business Council, and Michael Bleyzer Foundation. It would be relevant to invite Government representatives, leading specialists and analysts as well as economists. Then we can hold a broad discussion of each topical bill, so that all discussions were left at the stage of discussion and the balanced product was referred to the session hall,” suggested Ihor Kalyetnik.
