Ukrainian-Russian strategic partnership needs to be developed and deepened. This was stressed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak during the meeting with the leader of the Political faction “Liberal and Democratic Party of Russia” of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vladimir Zhyrinovsky.
In particular, Volodymyr Rybak noted that further development of bilateral cooperation does not contradict Euro-integrational aspirations of Ukraine. According to him, the main Ukrainian market is in the Russian Federation. At the same time, said the Chairman of the Parliament, Ukraine has to introduce European standards into all spheres of life.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada informed also that 125 people’s deputies showed their willingness to become members of Ukraine-Russian Friendship Group.
He expressed his gratitude to the Russian Party for active participation of its representatives in the international observation of elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, noting that overall objective assessment of the election process is extremely important for Ukraine.
Volodymyr Rybak confirmed his plans to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.
In his turn, Vladimir Zhyrinovsky noted that deputies of the State Duma “have the warmest feelings to Ukraine”. “Ukraine is not just a neighbor for us,” he said.
Vladimir Zhyrinovsky expressed an opinion regarding
the importance of further intensification of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations
as well as development of cooperation in transport and tourism spheres.
