The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should legislatively ensure implementation of reforms suggested by the President of Ukraine. This was stressed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak in the interview to Dzerkalo Tyzhya (Mirror of the Week) newspaper.
According to the Chairman of the Parliament, we still need to work a lot to change the situation in the country for the better. We need to take measures to combat corruption, ensure economic and political stability, and resolve problems pertaining to health, educational and social spheres. “Situation in the country will change for the better when economy starts working normally,” he said. “We need time for that. We cannot allow ourselves borrow money like Greece or Spain”.
V.Rybak noted that today we have reached the situation when economic situation inside the country is stable, but problems with trade area for domestic products remain. “Russia is on the one, and the EU – on the other. Russia is our strategic partner. The goods, Ukraine sells at its markets, amount to more than 60 billion. Thereat, Ukraine badly needs European living standards, but Europeans do not need our products,” he said.
According to the Chairman of the Parliament, all this prevents from changing economic situation drastically and increasing financing of the social sphere. Thereat, V.Rybak stressed that the President of Ukraine suggested 21 reforms to solve economic problems. They require gradual implementation.
In this context, according to him, the Verkhovna Rada should legislatively ensure normative base to implement them, and the Government should fulfill all President’s orders. “I state that there is the President, as a guarantor of the Constitution, who has taken over the responsibility before the country. There is the Government, obliged to fulfill all his orders and implement the reforms. There is the Verkhovna Rada that legislatively ensures normative base to execute President’s reforms,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
V.Rybak emphasized that “things do not happen quickly, but we all have to be single-minded and bare equal responsibility before people”.
