A working meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun was held on Thursday.
During the meeting Parties discussed the issue of cooperation between Ukraine and the People's Republic of China. Particularly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun stressed the necessity to deepen cooperation between the parliaments of both states. He stated also that during the last several years mutual interest in studying languages, literature, history, as well as traditions and cultures of both countries has increased. He expressed hopes that humanitarian cooperation between our countries will deepen and become a significant step towards deepening economic cooperation.
In his turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine confirmed that Ukraine pays great attention to cooperation with the Parliament of the People’s Republic of China. “We are most interested in inter-parliamentary relations now,” he stressed.
At the same time, R.Koshulynskyi stressed the necessity of activating work between the legislative bodies of China and Ukraine. He reminded that the last meeting at the level of these representative bodies took place in 2007.
Ruslan Koshulynskyi also stressed the importance of further development of bilateral relations in cultural and humanitarian spheres. “We would like our people open each other through humanitarian sphere that lays the foundation for future economic cooperation,” he said. He added that “cultural progress from East to West takes place today” and promised to maximally support cultural projects of the People’s Republic of China in Ukraine within his authority.
In the end, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine thanked each other for the meeting and once again stressed the necessity of activating parliamentary component of Ukrainian-Chinese relations at all levels.
