Unsubsiding memory bells
The address of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
Dear fellow citizens!
Among the milestones that make our hearts shudder with horror is the Remembrance Day of Genocide Famines Victims. It is our common bitter memory, the unhealed wound of all next generations of the Ukrainian nation.
It is our civil obligation as the successors of those people to address those remote and difficult times and remember with mourning, good, and deep compassion the millions of lost lives and destinies. It does not get weaker, does not pass into the nothingness; on the contrary, it strengthens with restoration of the new pages of that apocalyptic tragedy.
This memory should be active and responsible. That is, it should not generate disbelief or hopelessness, but call to action. For something similar to not happen ever again. For our honor and grief after the deceased to be incorporated in the faith in future and care after the living ones. Building new, prosperous, strong, and flourishing Ukraine, and decent life for its people would become the best, the most magnificent memorial in honor of all those who stepped over the threshold of eternity.
May these holy feelings and inspiration be with us forever!
