The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the bill “To amend several legislative acts of Ukraine re informing people on the inclusion of GMO ingredients in food products”

The bill settles the issue of turnover and labeling of genetically modified food products (GMO).

According to the document:

the turnover of food products including GMO or foods derived from GMOs, before sate registration of such GMOs, is prohibited;

the producers are obliged to label GMO foods only if such food products include registered GMOs or their ingredients in the amount exceeding 0,9%.

The respective bill was registered under No.11299.
