The bill (Reg. No. 11037), submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, suggests: increase the amount of fines for violating requirements of environmental legislation (articles 48-50, 59-71, 73-79, 82-83, 87,88, 88-2, 90-1, 91, 91-1, 91-3, and 91-4 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements); change the version of several articles to bring them in line with the requirements of current legislation (articles 48, 49, 61, 63, 65, 66, 68, 70, and 73 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements); supplement the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements with new articles establishing administrative responsibility for violating requirements of environmental legislation (articles 59-2, 59-3, 59-4, 64-1, 77-2, and 79-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements); amend articles 245 and 246 of the Criminal Code and broaden the authority of public environmental inspectors (article 255 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements).
The bill aims at refining state regulation in the sphere of environmental protection and increasing responsibility for violating requirements of environmental legislation.
The Committee members upheld the bill adoption of which, they believe will promote rational use and protection of environment and establish a more effective mechanism to stop violations of requirements of environmental legislation, as well as eliminate their negative effects.
