The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation recommends that the Parliament should ratify the Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management to the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians

It was noted at the meeting of the Committee that the Protocol is a component of the abovementioned convention, and ensures further reinforcement and efficiency of measures for preservation, recreation and sustainable use of forests in the Carpathian region.

People’s deputies believe that ratification of the Protocol on Sustainable Forest Management to the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians will reaffirm Ukraine’s position in regard to supporting international efforts in solving problems of sustainable forest use and its wish to take active part in this cooperation. Implementation of provisions of the Protocol into Ukrainian legislative field will promote reinforcement of social, environmental and economic functions of forests, and successful social and economic development of the Carpathian region.

The respective bill was registered under No. 0270.
