Adam Martyniuk: preservation of political stability is extremely important for development of the Ukrainian state
"Preservation of political stability is extremely important for development of the Ukrainian state. We hope that the results of the next parliamentary elections in 2012 will prove this," claimed the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Adam Martyniuk during the official visit with the delegation of the People?s Republic of China headed by the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Ms. Chen Zhili.
The First Deputy-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada expressed his conviction that it is necessary to preserve stability and alignment between different branches of power in Ukraine. And this would be possible if the political forces supporting the course towards development of the state won. Otherwise, predicted A. Martyniuk, the society will be destabilized again which will lead to economic decline.
Commenting on the results of last surveys, A. Martyniuk informed his Chinese colleagues that 4 political forces have chances to win: the Party of Regions, the Joint Opposition, Political Union "Udar (Strike)" and the Communist Party. According to the politician, "if the tendency persists, the situation on political landscape of the country will remain unchanged."
A. Martyniuk distinguished high level of mutual understanding and trust between Ukraine and China. He stressed that Ukraine keeps recognizing territorial integrity of the People?s Republic of China with a single capital in Beijing.
Commenting on inter-parliamentary component of the Ukrainian-Chinese relations, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that "the peculiarity of traditionally stable political dialogue between Ukraine and China lies in active cooperation between the supreme legislative bodies of the two countries, where the groups of friendship between the Parliaments and cooperation at the level of specialized committees play a very important role."
Touching upon the trade and economic cooperation, A. Martyniuk expressed gratitude to the Chinese Party for financial support which Ukraine is receiving from the P.R.C., in particular, in relation to joint projects in coal industry and agriculture. The politician reminded that Ukraine should pay a cutthroat gas price of USD 1 billion monthly. This is why our country is looking for alternative ways of solving this problem; one of them is to increase the use of own coal in power industry over the next five years.
"Today, we have all the necessary preconditions for further dynamic development and intensification of the Ukrainian-Chinese relations. 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations demonstrates good results and efficiency of cooperation at all levels and in all directions, in particular, taking into account interagency and interregional component," noted A. Martyniuk. The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada is convinced that "Joint declaration on establishment and development of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the People?s Republic of China, signed by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao during the visit of the latter to Ukraine last year, brings Ukrainian-Chinese relations to the new, more ambitious level of cooperation."
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People?s Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun participated in the meeting.
