In the course of general debates, an additional item was included into the agenda draft resolution "Ukraine", submitted by the Italian deputy, the Chair of the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions Matteo Meccaci.
The draft resolution was supported by 50 members of OSCE PA. They are also the co-authors of the draft resolution. Its text states concernedness with political situation in Ukraine, namely in regard to violation of human rights and freedoms and performance of Ukraine?s obligations, especially considering Ukraine?s presidency in OSCE PA in 2013."
In the course of a long and heated discussion of the draft resolution "Ukraine", Oleksandr Stoyan, people?s deputy of Ukraine and member of parliamentary delegation at OSCE PA, expressed political position of the Party of Region faction and noted that he believes there are no reasons to vote for the text of the abovementioned resolution considering the fact that this document does not reflect political situation in Ukraine.
Delegates participating in discussion expressed opposite opinions.
The document was supported by the majority of parliamentarians form OSCE PA member-states who also took the decision to include the respective draft resolution into the Monaco declaration, which is to be considered at the final meeting of the XXI Annual Assembly of OSCE PA.
