On Monday, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine H.E.Heimsoet on the occasion of his completion of diplomatic mission in our state. On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and on his own behalf, V.Lytvyn thanked Mr. Ambassador for fruitful work in Ukraine and significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian-German bilateral relations. He wished Ambassador further success in his political career. "I believe that on your person we have a reliable friend to Ukraine," said the Head of the Parliament.
The Parties noted that interparliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany develops quite dynamically and is one of the important forms of deepening Ukrainian-German relations. V.Lytvyn thanked the German Party for providing Ukrainian youth with the possibility to participate in annual International Internship in Bundestag and supported the idea to ensure internship of politically active German youth in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Mr. Ambassador noted that he is "unwillingly leaving Ukraine" and underlined that "four years of work here were extremely fruitful and interesting". He stressed that "the important for Ukraine event parliamentary elections, should be held well". H.E.Heimsoet believes that "everything is ready to successfully hold the upcoming elections".
In this context V.Lytvyn stressed that "we are interested in elections being held in line with the European standards and expect a significant number of international observers". He stressed that the elections will be extremely complicated and the center of political activity will be in the Parliament.
