The bill (Reg. No. 9691) is aimed at improving the legislation on
responsibility for law violations connected with turnover of goods that do not
meet the set requirements.
In particular, it is proposed to amend article 44 of the Law “On State
Market Supervision and Control of Inedible Products” by stipulating a
substantial increase of fines for violating the laws on turnover of inedible
goods.

Members of the Committee stressed that the explanatory letter to the
bill does not contain substantial grounds testifying to the inefficiency of the
existing fines. In addition, people’s deputies noted that the Law “On Market
Supervision and Control of Inedible Products”, which is being amended, has
recently come into force, and, therefore, the practice of its implementation is
insufficient.
