Implementation of the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe needs a serious and responsible approach.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn said this on Thursday, during his interview to the "Chas" ("Time") program on Channel 5.

The head of the parliament stressed that recommendations and resolutions of the European institutions concerning Ukraine were very encouraging at first, then warning, and now demanding and evaluating.

"If we continue just talking about what should be done, the sanctions mentioned in the last paragraph of the resolution might be imposed," V. Lytvyn stated.

V. Lytvyn supports setting up of the working group responsible for the implementation of the resolution on the order of the president of Ukraine. He stressed that this document is being scrutinized in the parliament.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine suggests drawing up a common schedule of implementation of the resolution, as "the decisions to be adopted are most necessary for Ukraine, not PACE or the European community."
