The Law harmonizes the Laws "On Advertising", "On Action for Prevention and Reduction of Tobacco Goods Consumption and its Negative Influence on the Public Health", and the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements with the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control ratified by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 15 March 2006.
The document bans any advertising of the tobacco goods, as well as advertising of trade marks, services and other intellectual property assets related to the tobacco goods. It bans the sponsorship of television and radio programs, theatrical and artistic performances, sports and other events with the use of brands of goods, services, and other intellectual property assets related to the tobacco goods, except of advertising in the specialized publications and at the specialized exhibitions. Advertising of any goods or services shall not include the images of tobacco goods or smoking.
