The committee
members listened to the information about development, publication, and use of
the academic explanatory dictionary "Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language" in
20 volumes. The committee members stated that big explanatory dictionaries,
which represent the state of development and the level of codification of the
state language, have always been a subject of special attention and care in the
civilized states as a symbol of self-consciousness, national unity and
international recognition.
The committee decided to consider publication and use of the "Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language" as a priority in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of independence of Ukraine.
The committee recommends the Cabinet of Ministers to support development and use of printed and electronic copies of the "Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language" in the spheres of education, culture, science, law-making, law enforcement, public and private administration, information technologies, etc.
The committee also recommends the government to ratify the State Targeted Program of Development of the National Lexical Database.
