on Foreign Affairs-Deputy President of OSCE PA, Chairman of the Standing
Delegation in OSCE PA, Serhii Shevchuk, member of the Standing Delegation in
OSCE PA, and Liubomyr Kopai,
Coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine, took part in the meeting.
The participants discussed work of the Standing Delegation of Ukraine in OSCE PA, having focused on the events planned by the Parliamentary Assembly for 2011, in particular, the 10th autumn sitting of OSCE PA on October 7-10 in Dubrovnik (Republic of Croatia). The participants discussed preparation for the coming session of OSCE PA in 2012.

President Petros Efthymiou
stated that OSCE PA session in Dubrovnik is one of the most important sessions
of the OSCE PA, as nearly 120 parliamentarians from 56 states will participate
in it. He also emphasized that the session will be held as both a Mediterranean
Forum, with participation of delegates from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan,
Morocco and Tunis, and as a parliamentary conference on the topic "Regional
Development in South-Eastern Europe: Challenges, Opportunities and
Perspectives." The participants of the conference will discuss the challenges,
opportunities and problems of regional development, the role of OSCE PA in the development
of economic cooperation between the states of South-Eastern Europe, and
Euro-Atlantic integration.
The participants of the meeting focused on the supervision mission for presidential
elections in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, and sitting of the interparliamentary
group on Moldova issues headed by Walburga Habsburg
Douglas (Sweden) with deputies of the parliaments of Moldova and Transdniestria. The meeting will focus on the pressing
issues of both parties, and will facilitate strengthening of confidence between
Tiraspol and Chisinau.
The President of OSCE PA highly appreciated
contribution of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the work of OSCE PA,
and suggested delegating Ukrainian parliamentarians as supervisors to the
parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan in the end of October, and ensuring their
participation in other OSCE PA events in Stockholm (Sweden).
