Happy journey to the country of knowledge!
Address of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
Dear fellow citizens!
Knowledge Day is calling us again to a beautiful and unexplored country. It calls everyone pupils and students, educators and parents. It is a great holiday for the youth who step over the threshold of a classroom or a lecture hall, and for those who cherish the memory of autumn flowers and the smell of fresh paint.
Special parting words are addressed to the new occupants of a grand sanctuary of knowledge, where they have to cover a long and difficult way from the first letters to the first independent steps in life. The Motherland will meet and accompany them in the person of a Teacher, whose tasks are future-oriented and are realized in the knowledge and traits of the pupils.
The state, authorities and we all should exert much effort to raise social prestige of this profession, increase material and moral rewards for it, and support effectiveness of pedagogical theory and practice. The Verkhovna Rada prioritizes these goals in law-making. It tries to combine innovations in line with the demands and challenges of the present day with the best experience of the past decades and generations.
The words with the common root ‘education´ remain familiar and sacred for each of us regardless of the occupation and achievements in career or life. It is a beginning of the intellectual potential of the nation, the source of spirituality and future achievements of human mind and labour.
May the Knowledge Day guide this seminal work!
I sincerely wish fruitful work in the new academic year. May the contribution of education into strengthening and improvement of creativity in our life grow!
A happy journey!
Volodymyr Lytvyn
