Stable development of Ukraine should be based on its own capacities. V. Lytvyn made this statement at the international scientific conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ukraine´s independence "Independence of Ukraine in a Global World: Trends of XXI Century."
"Ukraine proved itself as a state, thus the coming twenty years should be dedicated to its development. Considering global trends, the term "sovereignty and independence of the state" should be defined.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine admitted that in political and economic respect, our state still lives on the momentum. According to him, development of Ukraine as an independent state on the base of former achievements has been completed, thus it is necessary to define "the models to be used in domestic decoration of the state." V. Lytvyn deems necessary to change mental stereotypes.
Ukraine shall implement comprehensive reforms. He defined the priorities: "The question should be answered: how not to divide Ukraine into pieces and how to prevent the cultural-genetic fund."
Discussing the foreign political issues, V. Lytvyn emphasized that Ukraine "is capable and should strengthen its European orientation."
"We will definitely hold dialogue and find compromises to develop without unpredictable consequences," he stated.
He also expressed the opinion that such conference can result in the foundation of a stable expert discussion club on the issues and principles of Ukraine´s development.
