Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls on Ukraine and Armenia to coordinate their work in the international inter-parliamentary organizations. He made the foregoing statement, meeting the representatives of the National Assembly of Armenia in Yerevan.
V.Lytvyn stressed, "We should coordinate and boost our efforts in such international inter-parliamentary organizations as PACE, parliamentary dimension of the Eastern Partnership EURONEST, PABSEC, and OSCE."
He declared that security issues and regulation of ‘frozen conflicts´ should be tackled. V.Lytvyn reminded that Ukraine is presiding over the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. In 2013, Ukraine´s presidency over the OSCE starts. V.Lytvyn assured the participants of the meeting that Ukraine is not biased and will tackle the problems thoroughly and impartially. "We will work towards finding the contact point, as it is crucial for European security," he stated.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine outlined the principles to be followed by Ukraine while presiding over the inter-parliamentary organizations. They include human rights, children´s rights, rule of law as the primary condition of democracy, and development of democratic local self-government.
Parliamentary delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine headed by V.Lytvyn is staying with an official visit in the Republic of Armenia on July 11-12.
