Social, Mental and Cultural Diversity of Ukraine, and
Development of Democratic Institutes is the Prerequisite of its Successful
Development
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the foregoing statement on Saturday, during the debates "Twenty Years of Ukraine´s Independence through the Eyes of Politicians" with participation of the Heads of the Parliaments of Ukraine and Poland. The debates were held in Koszalin within ХХ Festival of Ukrainian Culture.
"There is no doubt that Ukraine has established itself as a state. Ukraine is socially, culturally and religiously diverse, but it still has a great future", V. Lytvyn believes. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated, "Our task is to define the approach to the future development of our state."
V. Lytvyn
emphasised that our country should preserve its democratic potential and achievements,
economic freedoms and freedom of speech in particular. "When I am asked whether
the freedom of speech in Ukraine is under risk, I always answer positively, as the
freedom of speech is like a child in need of constant care and support. However,
the society acquainted with this freedom shall never change its direction", he supposes.
