Mykola Tomenko: Social Advertisements, not Budget Funded Greetings from the President of Ukraine, should be placed on the Eve of the 20th Anniversary of Independence
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stressed that authorities had actually withdrawn from celebrating the Independence Day. He stated, "As the procedure of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Ukrainian State is not clear yet, the actions of local officials look cynical given the President´s declarations concerning budget savings and cancellation of the ceremonial parade."
He informed that local officials are going to place the Presidents´ greetings on the Independence Day at the expense of budget funds. As an example, M.Tomenko named the actions of Drab District State Administration in Cherkasy region.
"It is cynical to allocate budget funds for the greetings of V.Yanukovych in the time, when education and healthcare sector are underfunded," M.Tomenko stated. "It would be reasonable to place free-of-charge social advertisements with the prominent figures of Ukrainian statehood instead of the posters with acting high-level officials."
