Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, admitted that authorities had failed again to facilitate liquidation of "Naftohaz Ukrainy" National Joint-Stock Company and expectable privatization of gas transportation system.
M. Tomenko emphasized that on the initiative of the Party of Regions, the majority tried to put onto agenda of the next session the bill on state guarantees to enforce court decision (Reg. No.7562). The bill authorizes the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to crate social privileges depending on the financial situation, which would actually cancel privileges for several vulnerable groups, namely, the war veterans.
Moreover, the bill amends clause 7 of the Law of Ukraine "On Pipeline Transport" which bans privatization and reorganization (merging, division, allocation, transformation etc) of state-owned enterprises of major pipeline transport. "In such a way, the authorities tried to make a new attempt to liquidate "Naftohaz Ukrainy" National Joint-Stock Company and privatize the Ukrainian gas transportation system", M. Tomenko summed up.
At the same time, the decision to place the bill on agenda was upheld only by 209 People´s Deputies. M. Tomenko considers it positive. Although he emphasized that the authorities would continue their attempts.
