People's Deputy of Ukraine O. Skybinetskyi and President of the All-Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization "Road Safety Association" M. Berlin attended the meeting.
The Parties discussed organization of the First Interparliamentary Meeting on Road Safety in the framework of the Road Safety Decade 2011-2020.
Committee Chairman V. Shvets informed the participants about formation of the working group on the initiative of the Committee to hold the First Interparliamentary Meeting on Road Safety in Ukraine.
Barbara Krol informed that the European Union awarded Lithuania for the appropriate preparation and organization of the road safety in the state in 2011, while Estonia and Latvia have already received such awards. According to B. Krol, Ukraine is likely to join other European states participants of the Global Partnership.
B. Krol informed that the GRSP informed the World Health Organization, the European Union, the Council of Europe and other international organizations that Ukraine will hold the Interparliamentary Meeting. She emphasized that these organizations are willing to partner the meeting and assist with the preparations, since "Ukraine can make a great debut towards the array of events aimed at support of road safety."
M. Berlin, President of the All-Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization "Road Safety Association", expressed his intention to implement several programs in Ukraine to change the situation on Ukrainian roads.
V. Shvets stressed that holding of the First Interparliamentary Meeting on Road Safety and implementation of the GRSP projects would encourage Ukrainian society to realize different tasks and projects, since the issue of road safety is of national importance.
The participants also discussed financial support of the First Interparliamentary Meeting.
