The regional parliamentary seminar "Making Child Rights a Reality for the Most Vulnerable Children" started in Yerevan today. On this occasion, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated, "Ukrainian Parliament has recently made significant steps towards harmonizing the laws on child rights and issues of motherhood and childhood with the international standards." However, he believes that implementation of the laws on socio-economic rights is inefficient. "There seems to be a yawning gap between the laws on child rights and their implementation," he admitted.
