People's Deputies, and representatives of the state authority bodies attended the meeting.

 

Results of the second round of monitoring were presented by Goran Klemencic, Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, and Dmytro Kotliar, project manager of "Strengthening Specialized Services for Combating Corruption in Ukraine" (OECD).

 

Opening the meeting, Valerii Bevz stated, "Corruption impedes economic development, hampers counteraction to organized crime and money laundering, neglects law and effective state management."

 

According to him, OECD assists the states in accepting international rules of corruption counteraction, and calls for combining this work with fighting organized crime and money laundering.

 

V. Bevz stated that the Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption is scrutinizing the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan of the Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and its specific recommendation for Ukraine as an efficient instrument to accept intellectual achievements of OECD in the sphere of corruption counteraction.

 

Participants of the meeting discussed implementation of the recommendations of the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan of the Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
