The primary purpose of the Law is to settle socio-economic and environmental problems of mining towns that sustained losses during the liquidation of mining enterprises.
The Law supplements the list of groups of the depressed areas with the townships that have sustained losses during the liquidation of mining enterprises since 1996. The Law supplements the developmental indexes, according to which the territories are defined as depressive, with the townships in the territories of which the mining enterprises were liquidated since 1996, but the measures to settle the socio-economic and environmental problems have not been taken.
