The Inter-Parliamentary
Assembly of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania,
Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland is a bridge for the development of friendship, exchange of experience in
lawmaking, and coordination of international and regional policy.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement at the sitting of the Bureau of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
V.Lytvyn believes that this year is momentous for the bilateral and multilateral relations of Ukraine with the European countries. He stated that relations between Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland are a bright example of the real success. The Ukrainian-Lithuanian-Polish partnership relies on the important strategic interests of the three states. "Our countries have a substantial economic and humanitarian potential indispensable for stability, security and prosperity in the Central and Eastern Europe," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada stressed. "The experience of peaceful co-existence in the common European home has been the fundamental value to foster contacts between the states and sovereign nations for the past twenty years."
V.Lytvyn informed about the work of the Assembly, stating that the trilateral mechanism of inter-parliamentary cooperation, established four years ago, is a bridge for the development of friendship, exchange of experience in lawmaking, and coordination of international and regional policy. "It also serves the strategic goal of Ukraine: integration into the common European political, economic and cultural space," he remarked.
The Head of the Parliament highly appreciated participation of the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek in the meeting.
