The bills under Reg. No. 8130 and 8130-1 present a new version of the Customs Code of July 11, 2002 No.92-IV and amend several legislative acts of Ukraine to strengthen domestic laws on customs and harmonize them with the international legal norms.
The Committee upheld a new draft Customs Code. However, they deem necessary to draft a single version of this legislative act to combine the positive aspects of both bills. Thus, the Committee set up working group to draft the bill.
According to Committee Chairman V. Khomutynnik, the primary purpose of the bill is to solve two groups of interdependent issues. The bill strengthens counteraction to the customs violations, reinforces the post-audit role, and authorizes the customs bodies to fulfill respective obligations.
The Committee recommends the Parliament to adopt the bill drafted by the Committee as a basis.
