On Friday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited VІ Spring Kyiv International Fair "Medvin."
Speaking with the visitors of the fair, the Deputy Chairman stated, "It is necessary to use such a method of book promotion as book fairs, as it provides an opportunity to see the latest publications, meet the authors and buy books at discount." "Today, publishing and reading of Ukrainian books shows whether the state preserves everything Ukrainian," M.Tomenko stressed. "Thus, publication of every Ukrainian book should be supported."
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, presented the Ukrainian Yearbook and the book "Life and Works of Taras Shevchenko" by Mykhailo Chalyi. It is one of the first biographies of the Kobzar written by his friend Mykhailo Chalyi. For the last time, it was republished in 1882. Publication of the book was supported by M.Tomenko´s Fund "Ridna Kraina."
Dwelling upon the figure of the Great Kobzar, M.Tomenko reminded of Shevchenko´s famous line, "Read, study and discern, And learn from foreigners, But don´t disdain your own."
