On Thursday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Lieutenant General Ivan Krasylnikov, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Companion of the Combat Red Banner Order.

 

The Head of the Parliament greeted the veteran with the coming Victory Day, and conferred a ceremonial certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on him. I.Krasylnikov, who was born on June 22, 1922, shared his memories of the war with the Chairman.

 

I. Krasylnikov started as an artillerist, later becoming a commander of a squadron. He took part in the battles near Berlin, in Berlin operation and Berlin assault. He displayed courage and valour, but later he was injured. In 1945, he became one of lieutenants who received the Combat Red Banner Order. All these events are described in the autobiographic book "Milestones of My Life", which the author presented to V.Lytvyn.

 

"I am convinced that the world history is made by such people", emphasized Volodymyr Lytvyn. He wished well-being and sound health to the Great Patriotic War veteran, his two children, five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine sent his greetings and presents to thirteen Heroes of the Soviet Union living in Kyiv and two Heroes of Ukraine. 43 Heroes of the Soviet Union are living in Ukraine. In 1997, there were more than two thousand Heroes of the Soviet Union in Ukraine, 145 of them living in Kyiv.
