The Committee concluded that the bills on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine (re criminal responsibility for state and national minorities´ language abuse) (Reg. No.8092 and 8092-1) conform to Ukraine´s commitments to the Council of Europe.
The bills supplement the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the provision on criminal responsibility for state and national minorities´ language abuse in Ukraine.
In the Council of Europe, the issue of languages is regulated by the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages ratified by Ukraine on May 15, 2003.
