Mykola Tomenko: Revolutionary Version of the Land Reform might provoke Mass Protests over the Period of Power of the Acting Authorities
On Saturday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stayed with a working visit in Cherkasy region. He met the deputies of the local councils. M.Tomenko also took part in the programme of Vikka TV channel and gave an interview to Ros´ television company.
Dwelling upon the new reforms, M.Tomenko stated that most of them have no public support. He mentioned the tax reform, which provoked mass protests of the entrepreneurs in the whole Ukraine, and the pension reform, which is rejected by 88% of Ukrainians.
The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine drew attention to the land reform that might become the most disputed one, as lifting of the moratorium on land sale and free sale and purchase of agricultural land are not supported by the public.
According to the Deputy Chairman, the fact that the issue of land reform was presented at the parliamentary hearings by the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture shows that the authorities would legalize free sale of land, and would not face the consequences of such resolution.
Summing up, Mykola Tomenko stressed, "A revolutionary version of the land reform might provoke mass protests over the period of power of the acting authorities."
