Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects the anti-corruption law to be adopted in the beginning of April.

V.Lytvyn made this statement in the interview to "Izvestia v Ukraine" newspaper. The Head of the Parliament stated, "This Law is essential not only from the social and legal consideration, but also from the psychological point of view." "Having read this Law, every public official should realize the imminence and severity of punishment for illegal actions," he explained.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls for holding "collective readings of the law to avoid the claims that someone has not read or paid due attention to it." V.Lytvyn believes that such study of the document should take place "in all the institutes of public authority." According to the Head of the Parliament, the purpose of the Law is to prove that the state is proceeding from declarations to actions. The recommitted chapters shall be adjusted, so The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should adopt the act in the beginning of April.

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed, "There is no point in cherishing illusions that a single law will settle all the problems with corruption. However, for the short haul the sense of fear will do for the officials. Still, it is necessary to eradicate poverty and develop a civil legal society. These are the preconditions of a positive result."
