Delegation headed by Prof. Hans-Peter Niedermeier, Head of Hanns Seidel Foundation´s Institute for Scholarship Programmes, including independent journalists, news-writers and periodical and radio editors arrived to Ukraine together with the Head of Bavarian Journalist Union, owners of media agencies, and students. The Chairman of the Sub-committee, People´s Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Shemchuk took part in the meeting.
Viktor Shvets informed members of the Delegation on the structure, order of formation, and principles of activity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and its committees, focusing on the leading role of the committees in the activity of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The participants of the meeting showed a keen interest in the activity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Apart from occupational issues regarding competence of the Committee, the guests were also interested in the women representation in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, observance of citizens´ rights and liberties, freedom of speech, and participation of youth in the political life of the state.
The meeting having been adjourned, the guests had an excursion, visiting the session hall, the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the assembly hall.
