It is Groundless to accuse Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Parliament, of disrupting the Extraordinary Session of the Verkhovna Rada - Press Service

It is groundless to accuse Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Parliament, of disrupting the extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada.

Firstly, holding of an extraordinary session is out of the question, as the current session has not been adjourned yet, so it is possible to convoke an extraordinary sitting of the parliament only.

Secondly, as the intentions to hold an extraordinary sitting were announced, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate held organisational work and drafted a respective decree.

Under the Standing Orders of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 150 People´s Deputies of Ukraine should sign under the respective appeal.

However, the People´s Deputies failed to gather the required number of signatures.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that if the required number of the documents with the respective number of signatures of the People´s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were collected and submitted, he would sign the order on holding of the extraordinary sitting of the parliament.
