Mykola Tomenko: The Ministry of Internal Affairs records Law Infringements in the Political Activity of Sunday Adelaja, Pastor of the Religious Community, in Ukraine

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, has received the response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to his appeal concerning the legitimacy of activity of Sunday Adelaja, the alleged senior pastor of the Christian religious community "The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations", who is involved in several criminal cases.

The Deputy Chairman requested to verify the legitimacy of actions of pastor Sunday Adelaja on December 5, 2010, who openly called on his congregation "to take the power" and stand for the deputy elections at all levels.  He also commissioned one of his ‘pastors´ to set up a team to train the future candidates for the deputy office.  Information about this incident appeared in media.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine responded that the information about the respective incident had been registered in the registry of appeals and crime notifications of Darnytsia District Department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on 17.12.2010. As the actions of senior pastor Sunday Adelaja show the sings of crime envisaged in part 3 of clause 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (actions aimed at forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order, or seizure of state power), Darnytsia District Department referred the materials to Livoberezhnyi Inter-City District Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv under clause 97 and clause 112 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.
