The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Preventive Treatment of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and Social Security"

The Law enhances legal regulation of relations and activity in the AIDS spread prevention in Ukraine, and arranges legal conditions for implementation of the best world practices of control over the AIDS epidemics, as stated in the recommendations of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, the World Health Organization and other special United National agencies tackling this issue.

The Law also regulates legal relations in the protection of confidential information about the HIV status of an individual, its transfer to the third parties and disclosure.

The draft is registered under Reg. No. 6617-1.
