Mykola Tomenko: The Government shall account for the Turmoil and Arbitrariness by the Increase of Tariffs for the Public Utility Services
Dwelling upon the priorities of the parliamentary opposition for the coming session, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that the opposition found itself in a difficult situation, as the inadequate actions of the authorities called for an immediate response to numerous issues. He reminded of the attempts of de-Ukrainization, expansion of paid services and comeback of corruption in the higher education system. Thus, he deems necessary to launch the education reform, and listen to the report of the Minister of Education. The Deputy Chairman believes that actions of the Russian authorities concerning Ukrainian non-governmental organizations are incomprehensible and inconsistent with the international laws. Thus, he supposes that the Minister of Foreign Affairs should also report to the Parliament.
M.Tomenko stated that the Government shall report on the formation of tariffs for the public utility services. "The situation is strange, as the mayors point to the Government, while the latter points to the mayors and municipal councils. Still, it is the Ukrainian people that suffer from it," he admitted. The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to find an appropriate economically grounded system of tariffs calculation, and prevent the turmoil and arbitrariness by the increase of charges.
