The bill (Reg.
No.5364) offers clear-cut definitions of the terms in
the national winegrowing and winemaking, and specifies several provisions of the
national legislation on counteracting wine adulteration. Pursuant to the
bill, the wines with historical
prototypes, production of which involves
special manufacturing methods, shall bear the following
name: "wines of special type."
In this case,
the names of such wines
include the name of the
prototype: sherry, port, Madeira, Muscat, Cahors wine, Malaga, etc.
Thus, common names of wines
will be preserved,
while potential penalties on the
part of countries,
where these wine brands were
created, will be prevented.
According to the bill, vineyards for winemaking shall be planted only in winemaking areas with the use of area-specific or prospective grape varieties in compliance with the project ratified by the specially authorized central executive authority body in charge of agriculture.
Pursuant to the document, technical grapes corresponding to the state standards are used for the produce of wines and cognacs of Ukraine. It is prohibited to mix the European grapes with Labruska grape and hybrids. Grape for table use can be used to produce common wine.
