According to M. Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the parliamentary majority upheld the idea to hold the parliamentary hearings on pension matters. He stated that the parliamentary majority had always proved that "it can not guarantee democratic work in the Parliament and acts like a military detachment of the President´s Administration." The Deputy Chairman reminded that on October 4, he and Valerii Sushkevych introduced the Resolution on holding of the parliamentary hearings on the pension reform that should have been held on December 1. "However, the Party of Regions advisors stated that there was no need to hold the hearings, as there were no plans to hold the reform", M. Tomenko admitted.

After all, according to the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, the President discussed the necessity of the pension reform and concluded that is was impossible without the parliamentary hearings.  "Thus the Parliament returned to this issue. Being afraid to put the Resolution to the vote, the majority decided to neglect the copyright and the intellectual property right, and has simply copied our Resolution, having changed only two words in the title, and bravely voted in its favor", he explained. Mykola Tomenko hopes that organization of the parliamentary hearings would not occur in the same situation as the adoption of the relevant resolution.
